The Labor Market Spoke. Gold Answered.
Dear investor.
Gold at $4,420 today. Silver at $65.72. Two data points defined this week for precious metals investors and both pointed in the same direction.
July CPI came in at 3.4% headline and 2.5% core, matching expectations precisely. And the U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs in July, the weakest monthly reading in over a year. Together, those two numbers describe an economy where inflation is cooling but growth is weakening faster. For the Federal Reserve, it is the most uncomfortable position possible. For gold and silver, it is historically one of the most favorable.
Sprott confirmed this week that the months-long correction in precious metals was not a trend reversal. It improved the long-term risk-reward profile for both gold and silver. The structural forces behind the bull market, rising sovereign debt, persistent deficits, accelerating central bank accumulation and geopolitical fragmentation, have not changed. They have deepened.
China's gold consumption data for the first half of 2026 delivered a clear verdict. Investment demand soared. Jewelry demand fell. The world's largest gold market is shifting from ornamental to strategic. That shift does not reverse when the Fed holds rates or when a ceasefire holds for a week. It is a generational repositioning.
Silver at $65.72 is the most undervalued conversation in precious metals today. Supply constrained. Industrial demand growing. And a gold to-silver ratio that continues to compress from levels that historically precede silver's most significant moves.
The headwind that held gold back for seven months is peaking. The labor market just confirmed it.
